The Greatest Places

A journey to seven of the most geographically dynamic locations on earth. The film features spectacular land forms, diverse wildlife and the people and cultures indigenous to these places. Distinct geographic places include the great island of Madagascar, home to unique limestone pinnacles and the playful lemur; and the greatest desert—the Namib—home of the largest sand dunes in the world that tower majestically over its western border, the Atlantic Ocean. Other locations featured are the great icecap of Greenland, Iguazu Falls in Brazil, the Okavango Delta in Botswana, the Chang Tang Plateau in Tibet, and the Amazon River in South America.

Mountain Gorilla

Mountain Gorilla takes us to a remote range of volcanic mountains in Africa, described by those who have been there as ""one of the most beautiful places in the world"", and home to the few hundred remaining mountain gorillas. In spending a day with a gorilla family in the mountain forest, audiences will be captivated by these intelligent and curious animals, as they eat, sleep, play and interact with each other. Although gorillas have been much-maligned in our popular culture, viewers will finally ""meet the legend"" face to face, and learn about their uncertain future.

Super Speedway

We follow the Newman-Haas (Andretti) racing team through the process of building, testing, and racing for a season. This includes extensive race speed on-track footage, including some pre-race footage with a full squad of cars. From time to time, we check in with a small shop building/restoring one of the first roadsters Mario Andretti raced; the finale includes him taking it for a spin.

This short documentary focuses on the children of alcoholics. In the relaxed environment of a mountain campsite, a group of young people discuss their anger and frustration, and talk about their struggle to cope with the problems created by their parents' drinking. By sharing their experiences, they open a door for others like them. Aimed primarily at an audience of elementary school children and older, this film provides an excellent vehicle for generating discussion about alcohol abuse and the family.

The two-channel video installation captures scenes from the Manila metropolitan area, home to over 12 million people. Since July 2022, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. – son of the former dictator – has governed the Philippines as its president, alongside Vice President Sara Duterte, daughter of Rodrigo Duterte. The collaboration between Kiri Dalena and Ben Brix incorporates aerial images to reveal the city’s dynamic activity from above, while ground-level shots follow individuals through various aspects of daily life and diverse social and urban spaces: They go to school, drive to work, attend cultural events or church services, paint protest posters, play music, or do domestic chores. The First Emperor of China

A short experimental documentary that interrogates how the modernization of parks and playgrounds in Long Branch (a neighbourhood in South Etobicoke in Toronto, Canada) both reflects and contributes to the overall rise in the cost of living in the area by exploring children's relationships to the community spaces around them. The film includes footage from four local parks and playgrounds, personal archival materials, interviews with five South Etobicoke locals, and an art-based workshop at a local junior middle school.
