AquaBurn

AquaBurn is an award-winning documentary film by director Bill Breithaupt showcasing "The Floating World" theme of the 2002 Burning Man Festival. AquaBurn features many of the incredible Burning Man art installations, the imagination and originality that went into their creation, and the artists who conceived them. An unnamed passer-by is forced to trace a circular route inside an abandoned tram station, facing loss and time. The broken walls act as a channel, transmitting fragmentary, blurred and analogical memories. 

Love Parade: When Love Learned to Dance

At the end of the Cold War, something new arised that should influence an entire generation and express their attitude to life. It started with an idea in the underground subculture of Berlin shortly before the fall of the Wall. With the motto "Peace, Joy, Pancakes", Club DJ Dr. Motte and companions launched the first Love Parade. A procession registered as political demonstration with only 150 colorfully dressed people dancing to house and techno. What started out small developed over the years into the largest party on the planet with visitors from all over the world. In 1999, 1.5 million people took part. With the help of interviews with important organizers and contemporary witnesses, the documentary reflects the history of the Love Parade, but also illuminates the dark side of how commerce and money business increasingly destroyed the real spirit, long before the emigration to other cities and the Love Parade disaster of Duisburg in 2010, which caused an era to end in deep grief.

Free Party: A Folk History

The film follows the inception of the movement, a meeting between ravers and the new age travellers during Thatcher's last days in power, and the explosive years that followed, leading up the infamous Castlemorton free festival in 1992 - the largest ever illegal rave, which provoked the drastic change of the laws of trespass with the notorious introduction of the Criminal Justice Act in 1994.

Berliner Trance

This lost classic, shot on 16mm in a wintry Berlin in 1993, explores the origins of the German trance scene. Featuring interviews with fresh-faced selectors including Laurent Garnier and MFS Records founder Mark Reeder, the documentary also feature footage from the city's iconic Love Parades in 1991 and 1993.

Paradise

In the early 90s, Portugal experienced its own dance music explosion. Raves of epic proportions and a new sound shaped what was then called: “Underground house music from a paradise called Portugal”. Featuring exclusive footage and interviews with DJs, producers, dancers, and promoters, the story unfolds to reveal the birth and evolution of Portuguese rave culture and its lasting influence on electronic music worldwide.

W : A Return to Oz

Witness the rise and fall of The Warehouse, a rave venue from Plymouth and times gone by now reduced to a derelict shell. We explore its history, its people and the future. An amateur filmmaker-explorer finds the building in an empty derelict state, long after the prosperous life and energy it endured through the 90s. Through a combination of archives and stories of people who lived there, the film explores through the medium of analogue what once was and how even a now silent derelict shell can become the centre of the universe.

A Techno Tragedy

An explosion in the underground music scene is met by massive investment into Tucson, Arizona. Documentarian, Ty Besh, followed the scene from 2016 to 2018 showing the vast changes that happened to the people, venues, and scene in just 2 years. This Documentary serves as an archive and also a reminder to everyone in the DIY scenes across the world that moments come and go.

Jungle Mania

This work by indie filmmaker Ikon documents 20 Years of Jungle Mania, a rave held on 6 April 2013 at the Coronet Theatre in London. The event celebrated and commemorated 20 years of drum and bass music in London dance culture. In addition to coverage of the live performances and the crowd, the film features interviews with reknowned drum and bass DJs and producers who performed that night.

The Prodigy: Electronic Punks

Electronic Punks is a video by the British electronic band The Prodigy, released on VHS in 1995. It includes videos, live performances and rehearsals. Electronic Punks was broadcast on MTV and is available for free download. The live sections of the video were recorded at the Town and Country Club in Leeds, with the venue's name being visible above the stage at numerous points throughout the video.
