MOOR CITY HARBOUR

The city of Rostock is planning to expand the harbour by 660 hectares in the coming years. While measures to restore moors are being implemented throughout Europe, Rostock is planning to destroy an intact moor area. This affects the swamp of the Peezer Bach and surrounding natural areas, which make important contributions to the climate and biodiversity. MOOR CITY HARBOUR is about the value and beauty of a native moor, as well as the severity of its loss.

How to Be a Candid Woman

To produce speech, a set of mechanisms must be brought together. What is the normal articulation for speech? How to produce the sounds that make it up in the correct way? A physiological analysis of the aspects of speech shows us how: the jaw must move in a certain way; the air must be expelled from the lungs in another. Based on the concepts stated in the film "Normal Speech Articulation" (1965), produced by the University of Iowa (USA), we intend to reflect on the way women have been represented, and consequently educated, over the years, both in film and in the media. Largely composed of archival footage, this film intends to make evident, through a montage inspired by Structuralist movements, the violence of this education.

Salt in their Veins

This short film focuses on the Bajo of Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, highlighting their strong bond with the sea and the challenges small-scale fishing communities face. Impacted by overfishing, pollution, and biodiversity loss, they are struggling to survive.

Metamorphosis 2024

METAMORPHOSIS brought to you by Tanuj Samaddar FRSA in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Art of Health Zim and Ardent Creative addressing issues on mental health faced by the youths today. The video series is a series focusing on mental health issues faced by the youths in general. The series will include individual episodes on a separate subtopic on mental health issue released on a monthly basis. The production has been done in collaboration with the Art of Health Zimbabwe by Tanuj Samaddar FRSA.

The Last Maneater: Killer Tigers of India

Sunderbans (Forest of Beauty) is in West Bengal, India, and is the only place on Earth that is the natural habitat of Royal Bengal Tigers that have never known to be fearful of humans. One tiger has been known to kill three fully grown men, leaving behind orphans and widows who belong to poor tribes, dependent on harvesting wild honey and fishing, in a swampy mangrove region. About 80 people are killed annually by these ferocious beasts with razor-sharp jaws, whose forepaws can shatter bones, and sharp teeth can pierce a skull in one bite. Amidst religious superstitions, the narrator attempts to explain the cause behind their taste for human meat in a region devoid of electricity, roadways, firearms and safe drinking water, and why the villagers continue to live there despite of being stalked and mauled on land and water alike.

Winged Migration

This documentary follows various migratory bird species on their long journeys from their summer homes to the equator and back, covering thousands of miles and navigating by the stars. These arduous treks are crucial for survival, seeking hospitable climates and food sources. Birds face numerous challenges, including crossing oceans and evading predators, illness, and injury. Although migrations are undertaken as a community, birds disperse into family units once they reach their destinations, and every continent is affected by these migrations, hosting migratory bird species at least part of the year.

The Last Survivor

From early domestication to mass extermination, the wolf's fate has long been tied to ours, sparking strong emotions and debates even today. It is within this complex dynamic of coexistence that the team behind The Last Survivor explores the reasons that have led us to this point. Traveling to the Ethiopian highlands in search of the Ethiopian wolf, the most endangered canid in the world. Through an honest and authentic narrative, blending immersive adventure and on-the-ground investigation, the film portrays the critical plight of this iconic animal. Supported by concrete facts and scientific testimonies, it invites viewers to reflect on the fragile, yet essential, proximity between humans and wildlife, key to maintaining the balance of our shared ecosystems.
