The Judgment

Adapted from the short story by Franz Kafka, The Judgment is a psychological drama exploring themes of alienation, memory, and the lines between fantasy and reality. The film follows Georg Bendemann, a young merchant living 1900s Prague, who is struggling to maintain balance in an ever changing world. As his situation deteriorates due to complicated familial relationships, we are compelled to question the very nature of what we are seeing.

A Hunger Artist

In this adaptation of Franz Kafka's story of the same name, a streamer fasts for 40 days in front of a large online audience. Thousands follow and comment on his life in his 24/7 livestream. He receives support from his manager, an avant-garde ASMR artist. Interest in his performance suddenly fizzles out when he begins a new round of fasting. With less and less of an audience, he has to look for new management, but continues to fast anyway. Left completely alone, he finally breaks his old fasting records, but unnoticed by everyone. When one last viewer appears shortly before his death, the streamer reveals why he had to fast.

The Trial

Arrested for an unnamed crime, Josef K. is trapped in a surreal bureaucratic maze where justice is unknowable and guilt is assumed.

Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion

Rome, Italy. After committing a heinous crime, a senior police officer exposes evidence incriminating him because his moral commitment prevents him from circumventing the law and the social order it protects.

Inertia

During a walk in the woods a man stumbles upon a gate blocked by a guard who refuses to let him through. Gaining entry quickly becomes his obsession and only goal, to the detriment of all else, including his own physical and mental health.

Escape

A young man becomes convinced that the solution to all his problems is to live in jail, and he will do whatever it takes to get it.

Swaroopa

Loosely based on Franz Kafka's novella Metamorphosis 'Swaroopa' narrates the story of Gregory Samson and his family of father, mother, sister assisted by a maid within the social transformations taking place in late colonial and early postcolonial Sri Lanka.

Humaniforms

Tales of a man who carries a Persian Onager in his blood, a mother who drips honey from her body, and a writer who believes pollination is the key to salvation.

'GIVE IT UP!'

Loosely based on Franz Kafka’s short story, 'GIVE IT UP!' is a live-action animation odyssey through the confusion of life in the modern world. The narrative follows a lone salesman trapped in a timeless city, increasingly lost in his feverish dreams. Desperate, he races towards a train station as his last hope of escaping the city, encountering divine light, winding roads and the forces of bureaucracy. This deeply personal and referential work preserves Kafka’s absurd humour and pays homage to Weimar cinema of the 1920s, but also elevates the text to an existential meditation on authority, purpose and human helplessness.

The Insurance Man

Franz, a young man, works in a dye factory in Prague. One day he notices a rash-like eczema, growing on his hands. All attempts to treat it with ointment fail, and the rash gradually spreads over his body. After complaining to the management he is laid off work; his relationship with his fiancee is affected. In an attempt to get compensation from his former employers he looks to insurance firm Assicurazion Generali, where he encounters an enigmatic clerk called Kafka.
