The Scribe

Comedy short produced by the Construction Safety Association of Ontario, Canada. It demonstrates the dos and don'ts of construction site safety. The film is the last professionally filmed footage of film legend Buster Keaton, shot months before his death from lung cancer on February 1, 1966. He recreates several routines from his youth, as well as some new material for the film. Most notable was his recreation of a gag from his 1918 film The Bell Boy in which he mops the floor using only the tip of the mop, little by little while sitting on the floor.

“Condemned” (c.1960s) is a color fire prevention film presented by Fire Prevention Through Films. It was produced by Julian Olansky in cooperation with fire departments across Connecticut (Andover, Eagleville, Hebron, Mansfield, Willimantic, University of Connecticut Fire Dept.). The film warns against the dangers of fire and not having a proper fire safety plan. The film starts out by focussing heavily on the risks associated with carelessly smoking cigarettes at home before showing other scenarios that can turn deadly.

The Smoke Detectives

Starring SCTV's Joe Flaherty as Count Floyd, this fire safety video is a rare classic. It's still taught in some schools today, it's that comprehensive and entertaining.

Hospital staff are reporting more violence and anti-social behaviour than ever before. In 2015, 8 staff were assaulted every hour – a new record high. At The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham – one of the UK’s biggest hospitals – they think they have the answer. Stop Look and Listen is a 1967 sort comedy film written, directed by and starring Len Janson and Chuck Menville. It was mostly filmed in Griffith Park in pixilation [stop-motion photography].The film generates comedy by contrasting the safe and dangerous styles of two drivers who drive in the way made famous by Harold Lloyd: by sitting in the street and seeming to move their bodies as though they were automobiles. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Short Subject, Live Action.
