These men and women have found meaning and purpose in their shared mission to care for neglected street dogs, who have existed in the towns and villages of India for thousands of years. For some this mission is enough, for others, dreams of a better life are always near.

Captain Newfoundland

Media mogul, athlete, creator of the psychedelic superhero Captain Newfoundland, and an activist against his home province joining Confederation: Geoff Stirling was all these things and more. To do justice to a character as complex as this film’s protagonist, Mike Feehan turns the camera on himself and his co-director Jamie Miller as they weave together archival footage, animation, and fantastical recreations from Stirling's experimental 1970s late-night TV show, all very in keeping with NTV's original broadcast mission. Captain Newfoundland is an illuminating and wildly entertaining portrait of a complex man and his impact on the province that, according to Stirling, may or may not be the tip of the long-lost island of Atlantis.

In India you reach Bombay; Bombay is a busy place. There are over a million natives there, curiously clad, under the beneficent rule of England, as represented by such men as an Irish major. The major is attended by seven servants, who cost a total monthly payroll of seven dollars."

From Jaipur to Agra and Calcutta is a wonderful trip, and Burton Holmes shows some of the quaintest and queerest sights in the world, among them the funeral of a rich man of India. This may sound sad, but from all outward appearances the gorgeous procession of floats makes one think it was Mardi Gras Day. Next he takes you for a ride on the back of an elephant. After going through numerous other novel adventures in Agra, the reel winds up by showing the world-famous Taj Mahal, the loveliest building in the world, erected 800 years ago as the tomb of a much loved wife, by Shah Jehan. After seeing Taj Mahal you go on to world-famous Calcutta, thus ending the trip.
