Shadow Realm is a compilation of two episodes planned for the short-lived Fox Network television series Night Visions. Each episode contained two stories and were originally hosted by musician/actor/writer Henry Rollins. The Sci-Fi Channel acquired the rights to broadcast the episodes, including the last three unaired episodes and strung two of them together as an anthology movie. Title sequences and end credits were changed and the Henry Rollins introductions were removed from the final product.

Rapunzel: While attending the birthday celebration of the scion of some record company, an ex-hair model who aspires to make a comeback in the entertainment business gets her tresses burnt by a spoiled brat. Cheshire Cat: A woman whose cat was gruesomely disemboweled in the street has since opened a feline rescue center. When a man who poses as an animal lover alerts her to a potential case of cat torture, she accompanies him to the scene, only to realize that he is the real perpetrator and his next target could be human. Tooth Fairy: A dental nurse befriends a chef in the street. When he visits her clinic to check on his teeth, he is tortured by the dentist who fancies her. The morning after, the dentist is found murdered in the clinic. All fingers point to the chef who happens to be mentally unstable. Little do the police know that the real culprit is still at large.

Legend has it that the human race is not the only dominant civilization living on Earth. Two other races exist in this world: the Makai (a demon race) and the Jujinkai (a half-man, half-beast race). Once every 3,000 years, a supreme being known as the Choujin (Overfiend) will emerge and bring balance to all three realms on Earth. In present-day Japan, after 300 years of endless searching, a Jujinkai named Amano Jyaku has discovered the presence of the Choujin inside high school slacker Tatsuo Nagumo.
