American Hardcore

Inspired by Steven Blush's book "American Hardcore: A tribal history" Paul Rachman's feature documentary debut is a chronicle of the underground hardcore punk years from 1979 to 1986. Interviews and rare live footage from artists such as Black Flag, Bad Brains, Minor Threat, SS Decontrol and the Dead Kennedys.

Minor Threat - Live: DC Space-Buff Hall-930 Club

Minor Threat played one of its last shows at Washington DC's 930 Club in June of 1983; they would only play once more in DC. Two years later, the tapes from the 930 show were edited together and Dischord Records released them as the Minor Threat Live VHS video in 1986. Along with the 40 minute 930 performance, the DVD includes a 1982 Minor Threat show in Camden, NJ, a clip of Minor Threat's 2nd ever show at DC Space in December 1980, and excerpts from a 1983 interview with vocalist, Ian MacKaye.

Government Issue: Live in 1985

Washington, D.C.'s Government Issue perform live in this two-concert DVD. Filmed during a 1985 tour of California, both shows highlight songs from the albums "Joy Ride" and "The Fun Just Never Ends." Lead singer John Stabb belts out tunes including "Puppet on a String," "4-Wall Hermit," "World Caved In," "Hear the Scream," "Blending In" and "Mad at Myself," igniting audiences at both venues into full-blown Punk Rock frenzy.

Propagandhi: Live from Occupied Territory: An Official Bootleg

Vegan punk rockers Propagandhi perform in their native Winnipeg in this live 2003 show filmed by crowd members and recorded and mixed by the band. In addition to thrashing renditions of favorites such as "With Friends Like These" and "Natural Disasters," the presentation includes the documentaries Peace, Propaganda and the Promised Land and As Long as the Rivers Flow: The Story of the Grassy Narrows Blockade.

Skeeno H.C. Rules

Sonic Youth play hockey arena w/ Neil Young in Reno, Nevada. Ten years earlier 7 Seconds recorded the earnest hardcore classic "Skins, Brains, & Guts" EP. The town was known as Skeeno. Audio recorded especially for the film by Society's Ills, a band consisting of Mike Watt (bass), Thurston (vocals), Dez Cadena (guitar), & David Markey (drums), who cover said EP.

Another State of Mind

Another State of Mind is a documentary film made in the summer of 1982 chronicling the adventure (and misadventure) of two punk bands – Social Distortion and Youth Brigade – as they embark on their first international tour. Along the way they meet up with another progressive punk band, Minor Threat, whom they hang out with at the Dischord house for about a week near the end of their ill-fated tour.

Before there was ever a 108, Inside Out or Quicksand, there was Beyond. And in 1988, Tom Capone and Kevin Egan took their seven song demo recorded in their hometown of Holbrook, NY and brought it to Some Records on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. From there, everything took off. WHAT AWAITS US, A Beyond Story is a documentary that, not only chronicles the history of the New York Hardcore band, Beyond, including their origin, their adventures and their demise after recording what is now considered an iconic record, but also depicts Egan's journey from New York to California as he tries to figure out where Beyond fits into his life today. The film includes interviews with members of the band, along with interviews with members of Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Judge, Burn, Bold and more.

Get It Away

Formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in the summer of 1981, SSD (Society System Decontrol) are universally recognized as the first straight-edge band and their 1982 debut The Kids Will Have Their Say is considered a landmark release for hardcore music. However many fans consider 1983’s sophomore effort Get It Away to be the band’s most crucial release. Trust Records has re released both albums and has partnered with Six Stair Productions to tell the story in this short film about one of hardcores most important bands, SSD.

N.Y.H.C.

N.Y.H.C. is the first feature-length documentary to explore the New York Hardcore music scene. Drawings its roots from punk rock, hardcore evolved into a dedicated, self-contained movement, unconcerned with success in the mainstream. The documentary follows seven bands in the summer of 1995, ranging from Bronx inner-city youth to Long Island suburbanites to Hare Krishna devotees. N.Y.H.C. is a surprisingly in-depth and non-exploitive look into a vital and often neglected music community.

On Tour: The Descendents

The Descendents are a punk rock band formed in 1977 in Manhattan Beach, California. They have released seven studio albums, three live albums, three compilation albums, and three EPs. They are considered one of the significant punk bands of the 1980s during the hardcore punk movement. On Tour is a music and performance program recorded live on location at local venues in PA, NJ & DE.
