The New York lawyer Willam Singer receives three letters, that his father's cousin from Germany wrote to him over the last 5 decades, describing, that she hosted three people in her cellar for more than 60 years. Singer tries to find out, if she wrote the truth.
Rafael wakes up in a house he has never seen before. He suspects he has been kidnapped, but manages to escape from the house. While escaping, he finds an open house, with no one there, and no cars. Due to his desperation, he enters the house without thinking and spends a few days there. After regaining his sanity and access to the internet, he manages to ask a trusted relative for a ride. But when he gets home, he begins to feel changes in his body and begins to suspect that he has been the victim of a ritual. From that moment on, things initially become strange.
Shot by a reported “1,001 Syrians” according to the filmmakers, SILVERED WATER, SYRIA SELF-PORTRAIT impressionistically documents the destruction and atrocities of the civil war through a combination of eye-witness accounts shot on mobile phones and posted to the internet, and footage shot by Bedirxan during the siege of Homs. Bedirxan, an elementary school teacher in Homs, had contacted Mohammed online to ask him what he would film, if he was there. Mohammed, working in forced exile in Paris, is tormented by feelings of cowardice as he witnesses the horrors from afar, and the self-reflexive film also chronicles how he is haunted in his dreams by a Syrian boy once shot to death for snatching his camera on the street.
