Jimmy Martin, king of the motorcycle speedsters, visits the Kingdom of Mandavia for a race. There he is persuaded to impersonate the king by a traitor, Rodolph D'Henri, who intends to annex part of Mandavia for neighboring Selmarnia. The real king is in jail. D'Henri's plot is successful until Martin falls in love with Princess Margaret of Alvernia. Then he discloses his true identity, releases the real king, exposes the traitor, earns knighthood, and marries Margaret.
When socialite Helen Stevens obtains a job on a New York newspaper, she is met by much derision from the staff. Befriended by a heavy-drinking reporter named Jack Rawson, Helen rises to the position of advice-to-the-lovelorn columnist. Slipping into unconsciousness again, Jack awakens the next morning to find himself accused of the killing. Helen, with the aid of one of her lovelorn letters, investigates the story and uncovers the real murderer. Jack reforms and Helen takes him home to meet her mother.

In an accident Booth is disfigured for life and is saved from suicide by Jennie. They join a medicine show in which Booth is lecturer, but Jennie cannot stand the road.
