Based on the novel by Jules Verne "Drama in Livonia". French aeronaut Jules Ardan, traveling in a hot air balloon, accidentally finds himself in Reval. Here he meets Dr. Peterson and his daughter Leida. The gendarmes are hunting for Leida's fiance. The banker's son is being murdered in the city. Suspicion falls on Peterson. Jules Ardan takes over the investigation of the crime.

Anupam embarks on an ambitious project to create a Bollywood music video for Aa Jaane Jaa. Return is a methodical construction of the approach of an individual towards an unseen goal, which assumes metaphorical significance. Viola moves toward the camera/viewer, pausing every few steps to ring a bell, at which point he is momentarily thrust back to his starting place, and then advanced again. Finally reaching his destination, he is taken through all of the previous stages in a single instant and returned to the source of his journey.
