The Odd Couple: A Story of Two Triathletes

The short documentary 'The Odd Couple: A Story of Two Triathletes' is an inspirational tale of two triathletes, each with their own set of challenges. Jeff is a below the leg amputee and is a mentor to Parvin, who thinks that adhering to the appearance of his Sikh faith is inherently disadvantageous and holds him from competing as a triathlete. Ironically both chose their challenges - Jeff is an amputee by choice and Parvin is Sikh by choice. The movie is an attempt to bring to light Jeff and Parvin's inspiring friendship and their positive attitude to achieve their dream of being a triathlete despite their daily struggles. The film transcends cultural and demographic barriers and has a universal appeal in how we all can overcome our own challenges.

Han Ok-hee’s The Hole, The Rope and Untitled not only experimented with cinematic forms of expression, but also played an important role in the protest against forms of expression in experimental films and the artistic protest against the social suppression and censorship in 1970s Korea. On Canada's Pacific coast this film finds a young Haida artist, Robert Davidson, shaping miniature totems from argillite, a jet-like stone. The film follows the artist to the island where he finds the stone, and then shows how he carves it in the manner of his grandfather, who taught him the craft.

A Day with a West Point Cadet

For his third picture in his series, Mr. Holmes takes his audience on a visit to our National Military Academy at West Point, there to study the daily life of Uncle Sam's Cadets, the future generals who in after years will lead the armies of the United States. Mr. Holmes' series of West Point pictures show all the phases of our Cadets' lives of study, drill and play. They also give a knowledge of the beautifully situated military academy itself, its fine buildings for study. Its drill halls, its mess hall, the parade grounds. Flirtation Walk, the old historic reminiscences of Revolutionary days, and even glimpses of the serving room, during the Sunday dinner hour, when hundreds of roast chickens and gallons upon gallons of ice cream are served to the young soldiers. Building of pontoon bridges, daring artillery and cavalry drilling, target practice, mounted and dismounted, infantry drill, dress parade, guard mount, all these features of life at West Point are interestingly depicted.
