It also openly mocked the government, the ruling classes, and religion, and occasionally contained dark and dramatic storylines.

The theme music was composed by Gaynor Colbourn and Hugh Wisdom, and arranged and conducted by Ronnie Hazelhurst. The outdoor scenes were filmed in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.
