The construction of the film's visual and sound landscape is developed from two narratives, which communicate simultaneously. One that starts with the dancer, who uses dance as the main means of expression and that follows a chronologically organized direction in the narrative and another that starts from visual plans based on nature, without obeying a temporal logic, and that refer to the story by Hans Christian Anderson.

As the village doctor succinctly sums it up: 'L'Alcool et Flavie' broke Uncle Ken. The title refers to the esophageal ulcer, a result of alcohol abuse, which feels like a ball burning the throat. Although Mr. Vitàl is well aware of the causes of his uncle's demise, he eventually goes down the same path.

"Porta de Expressão" begins with a shot of the stairs at the entrance to the Cineclube de Guimarães. The sound of footsteps ascending the stairs and the murmur of a small crowd fill the air, but the stairs are empty. This "phantom sound" creates an atmosphere of mystery and absence, reflecting the invisibility and silence forced by censorship. The subtle sound of the projection machine mixes with some voices that tell of the many creative ways that the film society found to circumvent censorship during the PIDE era.
