The Last Masquerade

The revolutionary struggle of the Georgian proletariat is the central theme of this story. The narrative follows the life and fate of a young revolutionary named Mito. After the Mensheviks disrupt a railway strike, Mito is sentenced to three years in prison, and his father is executed. During his time in prison, Mito shares a cell with an old Bolshevik, which transforms the hot-headed and unstable young man into a conscious Bolshevik. Soon, World War I begins, and Mito, who has just been released from prison, is sent to war.

Ashura

The Battle of Karbala was a military engagement that took place on 10 Muharram, 61 AH (October 10, 680) in Karbala, in present day Iraq, between the forces of Yazid I, the Umayyad caliph and Hussein, the grandson of prophet Muhammad. Hussein and all his supporters were killed; women and children were taken as prisoners. This battle is central to Shia Muslim belief in which the martyrdom of Hussein is mourned by an annual commemoration, Ashura. There are approximately 1 million Caferi Shiites in Turkey, most of which live in Istanbul and the eastern border town of Igdir. In Istanbul they inhabit a shantytown neighborhood in the outskirts of the city, which they started building in the late 1970s. The neighborhood is called Zeynebiye, referring to Husseins courageous sister, Zeyneb. In ASHURA, artist Köken Ergun has worked in close collaboration with the people of Zeynebiye, documenting their preparations for the ceremonies in 2010.

Devil In Dune

The film tells the story of a near future in which the earth is irreversibly sandy, as human emissions and rubbish exceed its carrying capacity. As plants and animals mutate to create the Earth's new masters, the "sand worms", which are slaughtering the planet and driving humans to the brink of extinction, the survivors are left to their own devices to find the only remaining refuge in the deep desert, the "Oasis". An exiled team of wealthy businessmen, scientists, security chiefs, mechanic families and gangsters set out on an adventure to find the Oasis in a special armoured vehicle, but the bloodthirsty insects are hot on their heels.

What Kind of Bird Is This?

The envious Goose traded from other birds what he liked: the neck of the Swan, the nose of the Pelican, the wings of the Raven, the legs of the Crane, the tail of the Peacock; the Rooster's scallop and a "crow" in addition. The Goose began to look like no one, just for some reason everyone laughed at him. The Sparrow helped him with advice, suggesting that the Goose's stupidity be replaced with the wisdom of the Owl. At the Owl, the Goose also learned that "A smart bird can not be proud of other birds feathers." Recognizing his mistake, the Goose changes everything back.
